Heredity or Hoax? How dog DNA helped uncover a suspected Indian status card scam
Partnering with CBC’s Indigenous Unit, I used consumer DNA testing to help expose a scheme involving fraudulent status cards. I co-authored the digital feature and produced a report for CBC’s The National, documenting how fake cards resembling official certificates of Indian status were being used to secure illegal tax exemptions. The investigation was recognized with the RTDNA Dan McArthur Award for Best Investigative Journalism.

Investigations that prompted changes to real estate law
Through clandestine methods, insider interviews, and exclusive data, these investigations exposed how backroom deals went down and how the real estate industry continued to enrich itself while Canadians stayed locked in an outdated system. By documenting how laws were broken and ethics breached, my reporting on mortgage fraud, anti-competitive practices, and rigged real estate sales highlighted a lack of transparency and triggered multiple changes in real estate law.
International reporting on China in the Caribbean: Development at What Cost?
I directed this multiplatform report when Jamaica formally became the 10th Caribbean country to join China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). While the partnership brought modern infrastructure, it also came with trade-offs and social friction. I travelled across the island to document the impact of the BRI, producing a national current affairs segment and authoring a digital feature on China's expanding global reach.

National COVID-19 reporting and a critical look at Canada’s masking guidelines
During the pandemic, my reporting was the first to inform Canadians that N95 rationing was no longer necessary, following a comparison of Canada’s masking guidelines against European standards. I also commissioned laboratory testing of consumer N95-style masks to determine if they met the safety standards promised. My video segment, "Why Your Mask May Not Be as Protective as You Think," became one of The National’s most-watched videos that year.
Bomb on Board: A documentary, podcast, and digital feature on the largest unsolved mass murder on Canadian soil
On July 8, 1965, a bomb sent Canadian Pacific Flight 21 plummeting, killing all 52 people aboard. Despite the identification of four suspects at the time, authorities never laid charges. This multiplatform investigation utilized archival internal documents and new witness interviews to re-examine the evidence and uncovered new details on Canada’s largest unsolved mass murder. Produced in collaboration with CBC’s podcast department, the project won the RTDNA Award for Network Multiplatform Enterprise Journalism.
